Victoria Carter (née Baldree) is a freelance print designer and lecturer based in Suffolk and London. She originally studied BA (hons) Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts, London and has worked in the design industry, mainly within publishing and brand identity, for 10 years.

A recent graduate from the prestigious Royal College of Art, London with an
MA in Printed Textiles you can now see her exciting transition from Graphic to Textile Design online in the Marks and Spencer Royal College of Art Limited Collection Autumn/Winter 2010.

Carter’s culmination of graphic and textile skills have allowed her to develop a unique voice, producing sophisticated and witty design concepts with an individual handwriting. Her instinctive use of colour and versatile and innovative approach to printed textiles is the result of her combination of hand-rendered imagery, mixed with old darkroom techniques and a range of traditional printing methods and CAD. Working mainly with luxurious silks and wools.

Her design ethos is concerned with the minutiae of the everyday. Collecting and combining visual information that could be seen as mistake, when juxtaposed and put into context, can say something quite different, playing on the relationship between order and chaos within a design. The challenge of communicating atmosphere without words excites her, be it through print, fashion, film or animation.
